Kristofer Goldsmith is an investigator and consultant who takes an unconventional approach to fighting against domestic fascist organizations and unlawful militias.


Kristofer Goldsmith is an accomplished public policy advocate, nonprofit leader, and expert on the threats posed by domestic extremist organizations against American democracy. He is the founder and CEO of Task Force Butler Institute, a nonprofit organization that trains veterans in research and operations to counter extremism, teaching the skills and context necessary to keep veterans and their communities safe as they gather intelligence on dangerous individuals and hate groups.

As the founder of Sparverius LLC, a veteran-owned consulting firm, Goldsmith helps organizations build teams, design programs, and form coalitions to protect democracy and human rights. His work has been featured in the upcoming documentaries War Game and Against All Enemies, as well as in The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, Rolling Stone, and The Free Press. He is a nationally-recognized authority on the inner-workings of domestic extremist movements, the use of disinformation as a tool for radicalization, the military, and veterans affairs.

He has a proven track record of shaping federal legislation and regulations to improve the lives and well-being of veterans and military families. He founded High Ground Veterans Advocacy, a fellowship program that trained veterans to become policy advocates and mentored them through the legislative process. As the Associate Director for Policy and Government Affairs for Vietnam Veterans of America, he led the successful campaign to remove the expiration date of veterans' education benefits with the creation of the Forever GI Bill. As Chief Investigator for VVA, he revealed in a report to Congress efforts by foreign adversaries, including Russia, to target troops, veterans, and military families online to spread election-related disinformation and divisive, radicalizing rhetoric.

Goldsmith holds a degree in Political Science with Honors from Columbia University.
